II. About The Company

Business risk is democratized. Risk expertise is not. FractionalCAE (Chief Audit Executive) was founded and operates on one simple idea - that better business governance rooted in better internal controls creates better businesses. By extension, better businesses lead to better communities, and better communities lead to better countries with better lives for all.

The challenge is succinctly captured in this three-part observation:

  1. 1. Critical risk types (Unregulated AI, Data Breaches, Third-Party, Fraud, etc) threaten businesses regardless of size, but have a disproportionate effect on the health and solvency of small businesses.
  2. 2. Small businesses generally lack adequate risk and controls frameworks to help them both, defend against key risks, while identifying and leveraging opportunities to grow.
  3. 3. Small businesses generally lack access to the most experienced, world-class governance talent inclusive of risk managers, despite making up about 98% of all US businesses - more than half of which have no internal audit function at all.

Small businesses deserve access to the same caliber of big business executives with industry leading mandates who can tailor their expertise to the individual needs of each business. This would make small businesses more profitable and durable, which contributes to more resilient communities and economies.

FractionalCAE educates and facilitates rightsized, expert solutions for smaller businesses. This includes; initial risk assessments and reporting, establishing or enhancing Risk and Audit frameworks, providing credible challenge and oversight of consultants, world-class Risk and Audit training for all staff especially those in Audit and Risk functions, and supporting Board and Audit Committee engagement from the perspective of a Chief Audit Executive, where applicable.

The cost of doing nothing is getting bigger and bigger.

Too little is little better.
